Solar Eclipse – Standing in Moon Shadow at Lake Anna State Park

On April 8, 2024, the shadow of the Moon will sweep across the Earth. This will be the last total solar eclipse seen across most of the United States until August 2044.

Bring the family, ground blanket, and chairs and join the Ranger for some out of this world activities and to create a cool craft to keep. We’ll learn how to safely view the eclipse during this astrological experience.

Additional Information:

Bring your approved 2024 solar viewing glasses.
The start time for the eclipse will vary by location. For Spotsylvania County, VA it will begin at 2:02 p.m., peak at 3:19 p.m., and, end at 4:31 p.m. All times are EST zone. Our area should experience 86% coverage.

Solar eclipses should not be viewed directly with the human eye. The park may have a few solar viewing glasses for sale at the Park Office (only), please call ahead to check. 540-854-5503
