Our main goal is to design and build a longer-lasting boathouse or dock. We begin this process by using (UC4B) CRITICAL STRUCTURE Materials on the piles and all the framing, including girders, joist, and bands. This past week, the water level on the public side was above normal, putting many girders underwater. If your frame is built with ground-contact materials, it will not last nearly as long as CRITICAL STRUCTURE. When requesting an estimate, be sure to ask. Some contractors will tell you that pressure-treated wood is all the same, but that is just not the case. There are different levels of wood treatment. We use materials that are more costly to create a longer-lasting product, while still beating our competitors’ prices. Why invest in expensive PVC decking to cover wood meant for a ground-contact deck, not an over-water structure?We are currently demoing and rebuilding at different locations around Lake Anna and are seeing first hand the negative effects of using “ground contact” materials on the water.
