Oct. 5: Gordonsville Fall Festival

Held the first Saturday of October, the Gordonsville Fall Festival is a fantastic celebration of fall in Central Virginia. The festival is a fundraiser benefiting the local Volunteer Fire Company. Enjoy live entertainment all day, local vendors, food and much more.

Oct. 18–19: Whiskey and Wood Artisan Festival

Visit A. Smith Bowman Distillery for a family-friendly event that combines woodwork with the distillery’s renowned spirits during the Whiskey and Wood Artisan Festival. The Fredericksburg Area Woodworkers Guild has partnered to bring woodworks to the distillery to share their stories and sell their works of art. Shop wood, glass, metal, pottery, furniture and more all made by local artisans. Admission to this event is free.

Oct. 18–27: Spotsylvania Restaurant Week

Get a taste of Spotsylvania’s local restaurants during Spotsylvania Restaurant Week. This inaugural event is the perfect way for locals and visitors alike to experience the area’s local restaurants. Many of these restaurants will be offering special menus specifically for Restaurant Week.

Oct. 26: Goblins and Goodies

Celebrate Halloween a few days early at Lake Anna State Park. The park will host Goblins and Goodies on Saturday, Oct. 26. This family-friendly event will feature an afternoon filled with crafts, candy and “not-so-spooky” critters. Roast marshmallows around the fire and enter the costume contest. This event is free and open to the public.

Until Nov. 2: Halloween Haunt

For some terrifying fun, visit nearby amusement park Kings Dominion. Throughout the month of October, the park will celebrate Halloween with the Halloween Haunt. Experience haunted mazes scare zones or themed shows. After dark, hundreds of monsters will roam around Kings Dominion, lurking in dark corners, waiting to scare you.
