Send Off Summer with Wine and Music

Raise one last glass to the memories you’ve made this summer at Lake Anna Winery’s End of Summer Jam on Saturday, Aug. 31. From 6–10 p.m., the winery will feature live music from Richmond band Spectrum, along with food from Catch the Chef. Tickets for the event include a souvenir glass.

Indulge at a Pig Roast

Some like to barbecue and grill over Labor Day weekend, but Tim’s at Lake Anna celebrates the holiday with a Pig Roast. From Friday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept. 2, enjoy roasted pig, cooked on site, and a meal on lake-front restaurant’s expansive outdoor seating area. Live entertainment will perform all weekend long.

Spend the Day at Lake Anna State Park

Just because the kids have a long weekend, doesn’t mean they can’t have an educational experience. Visit James Madison’s Montpelier, a historic home in Orange County, Virginia. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31–Sept. 1 will be the last weekend of Liberty Mills’ inaugural Sunflower Festival. Browse 30 different varieties of sunflowers across five acres. These sunflowers range in color, size and shape. Take some home to create a beautiful bouquet. The event will also feature live music, homemade ice cream, area vendors and food trucks, and much more.
